It's no secret that the Blackpool Illuminations spectacular is one of the biggest crowd draws in the North West at this time of year and crowds will flock to Blackpool and the surrounding area whilst the illuminations run until 10th November. This year the Switch On event featured an array of star-studded talents, but unfortunately one of the headliners The Scipt had to pull out due to family problems, so in stepped Saturday night television star and Take That heartthrob Gary Barlow to ensure that one top name was replaced with another, asking for just a charitable donation to Children in Need in return.So the lights are as big a draw as ever and the crowds are there in their thousands – so where else are they heading to? Well before, or after, the bright lights of Blackpool have dazzled them all beyond their wildest dreams, many will have sought out some of the surrounding towns and seafront areas in the North West and looked to buy a present or two to take home.
Many of the crowd know that one of the best places to head to for authentic welcomes, real value and a sense of a traditional family atmosphere is Clifton Walk in Lytham. With a whole host of family or local run shops and boutiques it is one of the best experiences of local shopping in the region, with everything that visitors might need, from fragrances and frocks to chocolate and chipolatas.
So if you're planning a trip to Blackpool for the Illuminations within the next few weeks then make sure you stop off at Clifton Walk for some real bargains and a homely Lytham welcome.
