Lytham, as you may already know, is a proud place with a proud and distinguished history. With a history that stretches back over 1,000 years, right back to the famous Domesday Book, our area was originally wetland expanse which typified the North West at the time. However, all that changed when the Manor of Lytham came into being towards the end of the Middle Ages and the rise to prominence of the Clifton family began in earnest.If you're interested in finding out Lytham's history and its contribution to local life throughout the centuries, then you could do worse than to attend the one of the Lytham Heritage Group's exhibitions throughout October. The upcoming events of note are People and Places and Autumn Exhibition - sure to be both informative and inspiring. And, of course, speaking of inspiring, no day to Lytham would be complete without a visit to the ever-impressive Clifton Walk.
